Guerrilla Art Manifesto

At Guerillart, directed by the Guerillartist, the natural phenomenon of “habit” is used as a tool to do surprise attacks on the population.
The device: attack the population with its own charcateristics and habits.


The goal of Guerillart is not to become a celebrity but to free the population of monotony and to stimulate the population to resist to the superficial.

The Guerillartist does not act on illegal grounds but dances, driven by his creativity, through the lines, on the unwritten lines of the law.

During the attacks, the element of surprise plays a big role. The actions, always temporary, are thus performed by a quick moving unit.

The Guerillartist is equipped with easily managable and light material which works fast and efficienctly and which functions under all possible conditions.

The material is also branded with its own personal logo, it can be stored within seconds and resists transport under difficult conditions.

He/She has to think and act fast, inventive, creative and efficiently. The Guerillartist has the necesarry physical condition, flexibility and strength. He/She can never stay on the same spot because time is chasing him/her. Action is necessary. He/She has an infinite will and endurance to reach his/her goal.

Each Guerillartist has their specialty which obviously requires daily training. He/She needs to be intoxicated whether by poetry, virtuousness or wine.

The core of the action is the esthetical value: man is the goal and not the means.
Actions have the charcteristics of a mushroom, and during an action the Guerillartist feels like a fish in the water. A successful method is to reach the public through children.
When there is a lack of interior space, squatting is a good alternative.
 




STRATEGY
:

Phase 1: specially trained agitators and propaganda people make the public curious.


Phase 2: the “growing of the mushroom”: live and work spaces are constructed on a well chosen and strategic spot. The population is being poked with small actions, their reactions are observed and used as material for the “last move”.


Phase 3: Tension is built up by attacking the population more frequently and more intense.
